How We are Different

Here are the many ways Kubik Legal is unique:

  1. Our founder, Sara Kubik, knows what you are going through. She was once a legal client and because of that pretty awful experience, she decided to become a lawyer. Because she knew she could be a lawyer that had empathy and sympathy. She understands the frustrations and stress people face when dealing with a lawsuit, or the courts, or by going through a complicated legal system. There are thousands of attorneys that people can choose. And if they are licensed, they can practice law. But too many of them forget the human-side of our jobs. Sara Kubik founded Kubik Legal for that very-reason.
  2. We are not a high-volume firm, and that is by choice. Clients are more than just dollar signs, and we believe that an attorney should be more integrated into the Client’s issues than less. Often times are traditional firms, the goal is to get as many clients and as many billable hours as you can. The result? Attorneys spend minimal time on cases and on communication with their Clients. Kubik Legal is different because we prefer to have less Clients, so we can keep in closer contact with our Clients and to provide them with a superior experience with our firm.
  3. Our relationship with our Clients is more like partnerships, than the traditional top-down and one-way relationships that many attorneys use. Instead of discouraging you to do some research on your own case, we encourage you to Google / talk to your friends / read what you can / even ask ChatGPT some questions. Before our initial Client consultation, we will give you tools to help you this. Instead of being challenged by Clients doing their own research, we think you should lean in and learn what you can. Our legal expertise and knowledge is better applied when we advise you on what you’ve found and what you have questions about.
  4. We will never sign an email or memo with “Very Truly Yours”. That is some strange sign-off that old school firms and lawyers use. And we think it just sounds creepy.
  5. We use technology within our firm. That sounds so basic but when you ask around, there are MANY law firms that operate in the same way that they have always operated. They are totally resistant to change even though the world has changed. We use technology in our lives, so why not use it within a law firm and when working with your attorney? Ask your friends who have worked with lawyers if they have experienced any of these out-dated things…
    • Old school law firms still rely on paper files instead of using digital files. Not only are they killing trees unnecessarily, but using paper files instead of digital ones slows down their practice and makes YOUR documents less secure (fingers crossed there are no fires/floods/or other things that would destroy the paper). At Kubik Legal, our founder has a PhD in Technology and uses wherever it makes sense and cents.
    • Old school law firms make you come into their office to sign documents when this can be done using DocuSign. This seems like such a no-brainer thing to do. Have you ever sold a house? Every realtor uses DocuSign! But some old school attorneys refuse to work with a technology that actually helps their Clients. At Kubik Legal, you won’t have to drive into an office just to sign something. We use technology to help you save time and provide a more convenient legal experience. But when we need to meet in person. Kubik Legal is housed in the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana. Conveniently located at 800 Connecticut Drive, Crown Point, IN 46307.
    • Old School lawyers may insist that consultations are in-person in their office. So no matter where you live, you have to take time off from work/out of your day to drive in to see them. It’s all about having YOU drive to see THEM. Which is not very flexible. Having a large law office does not mean the firm is established or credible. Lots of law firms in larger offices fail. And you know who pays for those big glitzy law offices? YOU do. Kubik Legal’s law office is a building with many other businesses. We’re keeping our expenses low, which means our prices are more competitive.
  6. We have flexible hours. Those traditional law firms that go to traditional offices don’t. But we know that your life can be hectic and your time is precious. So we’ll work with you outside of “business hours”. And we’ll use various means to connect with you. This goes back to point 5, but we’ll use calls, texts, emails, and Zoom calls as the preferred ways of communicating with you. Of course we can also meet in-person, and we’re flexible with this as well!
